Dr. Zehnpfennig was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan where he completed his initial education, medical school, and surgical residency. He moved to Montana soon after in 2011 to enjoy the mountains, snow, and abundant winter-sports opportunities in western Montana.
After practicing in Montana for 8 years as a general surgeon, Dr. Zehnpfennig spent a year of advanced training with the world's preeminent robotic colon surgeons in Houston, Texas. During this year he perfected minimally-invasive techniques in colon and rectal surgery such as intracorporeal anastomosis, incisionless surgery, and natural-orifice specimen extraction.
