Dr. Frandsen grew up in Missoula and participated in many sports in high school including football, basketball, baseball, and track. Interestingly, he received a college scholarship from CMC when he was in high school for students interested going into premedical studies. It seems to have worked!
He went to college at the University of Redlands with the thought of playing basketball there, but decided to focus on school and graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA, making him first in his class. He took a year off to do cancer research, then went to Dartmouth Medical School. He decided on Family Medicine because it offers the increasingly rare opportunity to step back and look at the entire canvas of a patient’s life, providing care for all of a patient’s needs. Family medicine allows a physician to adapt to their patient population and then becomes the only specialty to treat any patient with any problem in all aspects of their care. This is why Dr. Frandsen did residency training in Boise, ID through the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho, associated with the University of Washington; so he could become a broadly-trained FM doctor. He is particularly interested in pediatrics, women’s health, colonoscopy, vasectomy, sports medicine, and most office procedures.
He loves spending time with his family. He has a beautiful wife, Amy, a wonderful son, Quinn, and an amazing daughter, Oakley. He loves many outdoor activities, with his favorites being fishing, hunting, hiking and camping. He feels that it is wonderful to finally be able to back in Western Montana, serving the people he grew up with.
