Medications are often a vital part of healing from illness or injury and managing ongoing conditions. However, improperly using or disposing of them can pose serious risks to your health and the health of those around you. Here are some simple ways to practice safe medication habits:
- Take your medications only as prescribed by your provider, and don’t share them with anyone.
- Always relock the cap on your medicine bottles, and keep medicines in a safe and locked location out of the reach of children and out of sight from friends and visitors.
- Safely dispose of unused or expired medications by bringing them to a designated medication drop box. Community Medical Center has two lock boxes, one in the main entrance of the hospital (open 24-7), the other is in our cancer center (open Mon. - Fri. 8 am - 5 pm).
