Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Laboratory work closely together to provide clinicians with diagnostic information for patients around Western Montana.
Community Pathology plays a vital role the diagnosis that forms the basis of patients' treatment plans, working closely with medical providers to provide diagnostic information that guide treatment decisions. Anatomic Pathology performs diagnostic services primarily through the microscopic examination of cells and tissues while the Clinical Lab analyzes blood and other body fluids for evidence of disease.
First Lab provides convenient and affordable lab testing. No doctor’s order necessary. Located in just inside the front entrance of the main hospital.
Fasting is required for some tests. Please call in advance for instructions. No appointment is necessary. Skip the wait, check-in online and walk-ins are welcome.
Test results are mailed directly to you and included in your patient portal at Community Medical Center & Community Physician Group, however, we encourage you to provide a copy of the results to your primary care provider. Insurance will not billed, payment is due at the time of service.

Community Children's offers a pediatric sedation program that provides sedation with nitrous oxide for children requiring lab draws, IV, foley and NG tube placements making it easier and more comfortable for children.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulates all laboratory testing (except research) performed on humans in the U.S. through the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). CLIA establishes quality standards for all laboratory testing to ensure the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of patient test results regardless of where the test was performed. A laboratory is defined as any facility which performs laboratory testing on specimens derived from humans for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, treatment of disease, or impairment of, or assessment of health.
