Joint Replacements: How They've Changed at Community

Joint replacements are increasing in demand as the population ages and patients want to stay active in later years of life. There is also an increase in a younger population getting joint replacements due to the advancement in devices providing increased resistance to wear and tear – thus lasting longer. With the increasing demand for joint replacement surgery, Community Medical Center is pleased to work with the orthopedic surgeons at Northern Rockies Orthopedics to care for patients of all ages.
Joint replacements no longer require an overnight stay. They have come a long way, with advancements in better pain control options, muscle-sparing surgical techniques and technology, most patients now have the option of enhanced recovery short-stay joint replacements at Community Medical Center. Our expert physical therapy team work closely with the surgeons at Northern Rockies Orthopedics and their patients to ensure they have the education and therapy needed to recover at home. Each Monday at 1 pm, our therapists host a pre-op joint class to ensure patients are prepared for surgery. Post-op therapists have patients up and walking the day of surgery while educating on proper walking technique. This time is also used to instruct on their home exercise program so they can safely recover at home.
