Pharmacy Residency

Community Medical Center is a 151-bed general medicine hospital that offers advanced clinical pharmacy services, including dedicated pharmacy presence on our intensive care, medical/surgical and extended stay units, along with our cancer center. We serve as a teaching site for students at the University of Montana Skaggs School of Pharmacy, and teaching and precepting are major components of the program. We also have intensive and longitudinal rotations in ambulatory care pharmacy in both anticoagulation and family medicine clinics, giving our residnets a well-rounded, and customizable experience.
There are two ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice (PGY1) residency positions administrated by Community Medical Center. The residency is professionally affiliated with the University of Montana Pharmacy Practice Department. All positions are located at Community Medical Center in Missoula, Montana. The residency includes required rotations in internal medicine, critical care / pulmonology, ambulatory care, orthopedics / perioperative management, and rehabilitation and transitions of care. Our elective rotations are flexible according to resident interests and include NICU / pediatrics, oncology, infectious disease, and education.
A longitudinal rotation in education, with opportunity for small group instruction and preceptorship for the Pharm.D. program at The University of Montana, is also offered, and there is continued longitudinal ambulatory care exposure through the year. Benefits include medical / dental / life insurance, annual leave, sick leave and professional development funds for travel to ASHP Midyear and Residents' Conferences. Staffing requirements include every third weekend with the Monday off following the weekend.
