For more than 100 years, Community Medical Center has proudly cared for and served our neighbors throughout Western Montana, ensuring we live our mission of making communities healthier. As a leading healthcare provider, we are committed to delivering the best outcomes and experience possible to the Montanans who trust us with their health and wellness every day.

I am proud to share the ways in which we have supported our community in 2023 through our Community Benefit Report, which highlights the investments and advancements made that have helped to expand access to medical care throughout our region.

In 2023, Community invested more than $5.8 million in new technology, equipment and other improvements that allowed us to grow important services or build new ones. These include an upgrade to our imaging system for electrophysiology, two new MRI machines in collaboration with Advanced Imaging, among other updates. A highlight for our hospital last year was the opening of our new and expanded Emergency Department which added additional space and resources for patients of all ages as well as our EMS partners.

We also added new treatment options for patients including becoming the first hospital in Montana to provide a Limb Preservation Program in an effort to reduce the number of amputations happening across the state, introduced Kyphoplasty a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures, as well as added Aquablation Therapy – a new treatment for men suffering from the effects of an enlarged prostate.

Delivering safe, outstanding care to all our neighbors, regardless of their ability to pay, is foundational to our mission. In 2023, Community donated more than $11.2 million in care and services, including charity care, uninsured discounts, and uncompensated care, to local individuals and families in need. In addition to the medical care and services we provide, we also paid $11.8 million in local and state taxes last year, while continuing to support local causes and organizations.

Great local care only happens through the work and commitment of a great team. Last year, the hospital distributed a payroll of $83.6 million to our more than 900 employees and funded professional development and tuition assistance so all employees have the opportunity to learn, grow, and improve the care they provide their neighbors. In 2023, we launched a Certified Medical Assistant program as a paid learning opportunity to provide an easier path to pursue a career as a medical assistant and to support our nurses and doctors.

All of us at Community Medical Center look forward to further enhancing how we serve and collaborate with people across our region today and for generations to come.
