Celebrating our 2024 Mercy Award Winner
June 10, 2024
Front Desk Associate, Sarah Condon, has been recognized as Community Medical Center's 2024 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
Established in 2001, the Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
Sarah was nominated by a number of co-workers. She inspires others with her compassion, dedication, and willingness to go beyond the call of duty. She encourages everyone to do their best and assists in any way possible to make it happen. Sara embodies our core values.
Here are some examples provided by co-workers:
- Sarah answered a call from an elderly gentleman clearly in medical distress. It was evening, and he was scared and alone. He needed assistance reaching emergency services. Acting with kindness and championing patient care, Sarah successfully connected him with 911. Then, concerned that he still might need to hear a friendly voice, she called him back to ensure that help was on the way, and she stayed on the phone with him until emergency services arrived.
- In championing patient care, Sarah received a phone call from a young woman who had surgery earlier in the day. She was in tremendous pain and distraught. Sarah recognized she needed medical intervention and convinced her that calling 911 was necessary. The woman was concerned about EMS not coming in the door because she had dogs. Sarah's answer? “These are Montana guys – they can handle dogs.” Sarah connected her to 911. The patient was transported to the ER and required emergency surgery. The young woman's parents came in later and thanked Sarah for her assistance in getting their daughter the emergency care she needed.
- A patient was discharged on a winter night. Sarah found out the patient wasn’t able to get on the bus to go home because they didn’t have any shoes. Acting with kindness and without hesitation, Sarah gave her own shoes to the patient right there on the spot.
Each facility winner, including Sarah, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2024 companywide Mercy Award.
